Jon Lamson started his coaching and teaching career in 2001 at Cedar Hill High school as a freshman football and baseball coach. After three years at Cedar Hill, his heart took him back to the Houston area where he took a job at Cypress Springs High School coaching freshman football and both shot put and discus. Three years later, Coach Lamson was offered his first Varsity football position as a OL/DE coach at Bellville High School working under Head Coach Huey Chancellor. In 2011, the opportunity to be the Defensive Coordinator, Powerlifting and Varsity Track position at Hallettsville High School presented itself, which brought him to the final stop in his coaching career. At Hallettsville, under the direct lineage of Tommy Psencik, Coach Lamson and the rest of the coaching staff revamped the athletic program and set the tone for what became a string of several successful football seasons as well as many trips to the State Track and Field Meet and State Powerlifting Meet. To this day, “The Artist Formerly Known as Coach Lamson”, still volunteers each year at the State Track and Field Meet in Austin, working the discus ring.
Now the owner of American Shield Roofing and Construction (ASRC), Jon and his family still reside in the Hallettsville Community. Jon founded the company in the Fall of2019 and has steadily grown it over the past 7 years. He serves as the Secretary of the Hallettsville Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture, is active with the local Hallettsville Lion’s Club, and is a member of the Hallettsville ISD Board of Directors. Renee is very active as well, serving as a Past District Governor for Lion’s Club International, and also serves on the local Hallettsville Education Foundation Board. They are strong supporters of both the Hallettsville ISD and the Sacred Heart Catholic Schools. Between them there are four children, all of whom they are very proud.
